PROFILE

1962 Born London to English Father and Norwegian Mother.

1976 Ian was awarded an Art Scholarship for the duration of his studies at Marlborough College.

1985 Circumstances dictate a vocational course and following a foundation year, attended kingston University, graduating in with a BA honFashion Design,

1986 Having been introduced to Hardy Amies in 1981, Ian began work in Savile Row as studio assistant in 1986, becoming assistant to Sir Hardy Amies in 1989.

Following the death of Sir Hardy in 2003, Ian became creative director of the House until 2008.
His career as a Couturier was pursued alongside years of totally private practice during which he was mentored by Sarah Raphael and regularly received further tuition by
Robin child, attending courses at the Wedhampton Art Research Centre.

2004 Ian was offered the use of a former family property in Noway to further develop his work.

2012 ' Iluvuluvme ' , Bronze runic medallion representing Norway at international Art Medal Federation Exhibited at Huntingdon Museum Glasgow 'Celebration' (I Ching hexagram 55) , commemorative sculptural relief. Private commission Hatlestrand.
Commissioned by Kvinnherad Kommune , a series of event/site specific school projects co-ordinating the facilities and creative skills of all ages and abilities 'Hatleblum Festival' ; The creation and establishment of a local Arts Festival. A three day event showing art, craft and performance. 'Splash' , a site specific Sculptural installation. Private commission London


2013 Invitation to lecture ; ' the Hardanger Experience ' Royal Norwegian Consulate in Minneapolis USA
Awarded 2013 Annual Cultural scholarship by the Kvinnherad Kommune, for facilitating the creative cooperation between artist and the community. 'Mier Enn Ord' solo show Hatlestrand
Commission by the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis to create Sculptural installation in commemoration of the 200th Anniversary of the Norwegian Constitution

2014 Chosen to be The Festival Artist at the 2014 Kvinnherad Festival of Culture.

Shipped, Installed and Opened The Love Norway X Show at the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis USA;
A two part sculptural installation accompanied by a supporting exhibit of antiquities, video presentation, series of guided tours and lecture. ( this exhibit is subsequently to be shown at the Norwegian American Museum, Vesterheim and the Nordic Heritage Museum Seattle )

Curated, co-ordinated and participated in the 2nd Hatleblum Festival showcasing local artist and craftsman, together with a special exhibit, 'Arvesøl', as part of Kvinnherad Kommune's bicentennial celebrations.

The Harding Project ; A sculptural relief. Corporate commission for the headquarters of Harding AS, in Rosendal Norway.

Just what future the Designer of the universe has provided for the souls of men I do not know, I cannot prove. But I find that the whole order of Nature confirms my confidence that, if it is not like our noblest hopes and dreams, it will transcend them.
